Before graduating from law school, he worked for a leasing subsidiary of CitiBank in London and with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research in Geneva, Switzerland. He studied law at University College, University of London in connection with Notre Dame University. In the course of the latter work, he followed disarmament talks on chemical and biological weapons.
