Gary Doctorman is a shareholder in the Real Estate, Banking and Finance department and the Litigation department. He concentrates his practice in the areas of transactions and litigation in real estate, banking, equipment leasing, commercial law, corporations and bankruptcy. Gary began his legal career with Biele, Haslam & Hatch, where he was a shareholder and director until he joined Parsons Behle & Latimer in June 1989. He represents national and local banks and local credit unions in large transactions, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy. Examples of transactions include a $110 million financing by a national bank for a regional retailer; a $45 million financing of the Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort; a $15 million financing and securitization of a public company's hospital equipment leasing business; and a $12 million financing of all of the print and advertising for a worldwide release of a full feature motion picture and letter of credit enhancements to bond transactions. He has successfully represented banks that have been defrauded. He has litigated many UCC Article 3, 4 and 9 cases. Representing a national lender, he obtained summary judgment with a dismissal of five lender liability claims and obtained summary judgment for $44 million on a guaranty claim. He obtained a conversion from a Chapter 11 to a Chapter 7, over the objection of all other creditors, the Unsecured Creditors’ Committee and the debtor, and obtained relief from the stay to foreclose a $45 million loan secured by a large residential subdivision.
