Scott Bell is a member of the Litigation department, where he concentrates his practice on commercial and business litigation, media law, health care law, appeals and anti-trust law.
He received his J.D. with High Honors, magna cum laude, from the Duke University School of Law and was named to the Order of the Coif upon graduation. While at Duke, Scott served on the editorial board of the Duke Law Journal.
Scott has been named as one of Utah's Legal Elite by Utah Business magazine (in 2012 and 2009) and as a Rising Star by Mountain States Super Lawyers (from 2009 through 2012).
Scott is a member of the Media Law Resource Center Litigation Committee. He is the author of the Utah chapters of the MLRC's 50-State Surveys of Libel Law and of Employment Libel Law.
Scott has been appointed by the Utah Supreme Court to serve as a judge pro tempore. In that capacity, he hears small claims cases in the Salt Lake City Justice Court, where he has served for more than two years.
Scott has served as an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University, where he taught the Law and Ethics course in the Communications Department.
Scott is as a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and has represented a number of clients in the health care field. In particular, he has advised clients on compliance with federal and state anti-kickback and physician self-referral laws.
Prior to attending law school and joining Parsons Behle & Latimer, Scott worked for two years as a newspaper reporter. He earned a B.A. degree, cum laude, from Brigham Young University in journalism.
